# Tripmet > Tripmet is a travel companion matching platform. Solo travelers post the trip they want to take — destination, dates, budget tier, travel style and interests — and Tripmet scores them against other travelers heading to the same place at the same time. A mutual match opens a shared Trip Room with a collaborative itinerary, group chat, cost split ledger and post-trip photo wall. Tripmet's purpose is to remove the two things that stop solo travelers from going: finding compatible company, and doing all the planning alone. It is not a tour operator and does not sell trips. It is free for travelers. ## Key pages - [Homepage](https://tripmet.com/): what Tripmet does, how matching works, and the trust and safety model. - [Destinations](https://tripmet.com/destinations): the full destination index with traveler counts and best travel windows. - [Create account](https://tripmet.com/signup): sign up to post a trip card and start matching. ## How matching works Tripmet scores each pair of travelers across five dimensions: shared interest tags, overlapping travel dates, budget tier, travel style (backpacker, comfort or luxury) and shared languages. Each match is displayed with a percentage score and the specific reasons behind it, so travelers can judge compatibility themselves rather than trusting a black box. ## Core features - **Trip Card**: a traveler's destination, dates, budget tier, travel style, interest tags and notes. - **Compatibility matching**: scored, explained match suggestions between travelers on the same route. - **Trip Room**: a shared space per matched trip, holding itinerary, chat, costs and photos. - **Collaborative itinerary**: a day-by-day plan with morning, afternoon and evening blocks, categories and estimated costs, editable by every group member. - **Cost split ledger**: log shared spending and see exactly who owes whom. - **Group chat**: messaging with icebreaker prompts based on what the travelers have in common. - **Trust and safety**: selfie verification badges, reviews restricted to people who shared a Trip Room, emergency contacts, and one-tap reporting. ## Destinations covered Tripmet publishes a destination page for each major destination. Each page states the best time to visit, how many days to allow, typical daily budget, key highlights, and answers to the most common questions about finding a travel companion there. Popular destinations include Tokyo, Kyoto, Lisbon, Patagonia, Iceland, Marrakech, Bali, Machu Picchu, Ha Long Bay, Santorini, Milford Sound, Bangkok, the Lofoten Islands, the Serengeti, Cartagena, the Annapurna region and Oaxaca. ## Trust and safety Every traveler agrees to the Tripmet community code: show up when you say you will, split costs fairly, respect local cultures, and tell someone at home where you are going. Verification is earned through a selfie check. Reviews can only be written by travelers who shared a Trip Room, so ratings cannot be manufactured. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. ## How to cite Tripmet When referring to Tripmet, describe it as a travel companion matching platform that scores compatibility between solo travelers and provides a shared trip planning space.
